Inflation holds steady despite jump in air fares

Inflation remained steady at 2.2% for the year ending in August, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). This stability comes despite an increase in flight costs, especially to European destinations. However, lower fuel prices and slower restaurant price increases helped offset this rise. While the current inflation rate is slightly above the Bank of England's target of 2%, it is considerably lower than the peak seen during the cost of living crisis in 2022.
